This program features Judy Domeny Bowen playing guitar, banjo, and mountain dulcimer and singing traditional folk songs. Pioneer life is portrayed through sing-a-long songs, storytelling songs, animal songs, displayed figurines and presenter comments. Students will learn about pioneer heritage as they enjoy singing along on a variety of silly and serious storytelling folk songs. There will be two sessions of this event.

A photographer who captured the realities of war on the battlefield… A cow that “fought” alongside the Union Army… A secret map that led slaves to freedom… A president who tried to reunite the nation with his words…. Come discover the STORY behind the HISTORY. In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the Christian County Library and the Missouri Humanities Council invites children and adults to experience the Civil War in Missouri through picture books and conversation.

Kids will get their hands dirty and dig into the science of soil. Work alongside the Christian County Master Gardeners as we learn about planting seeds and garden care. Find out what it takes to make a garden grow, before preparing and planting your own take-home garden.

Digging into Dirt (Ages 7-12)

Reptiles, lizards and snakes! Oh my! Are you brave enough to come and join us while we explore the slithering critters to be found underground right here in the Ozarks? There will be a display and discussion of animals that nest underground, including native lizards. There will also be a live snake that the audience may pet after the show.

Rick Rayburn Digs into Reading! (All Ages)

Join us for songs, stories and dances about gardens, worms, fossils, caves, dirt and other fun stuff that kids can really “dig” into. As an acoustic guitar "fingerpicker" and singer/songwriter, Rick is a total performer. This program features a wild interactive musical romp for kids of all ages and songs from Rick's popular children’s CDs.

The Magic Underground (All Ages)

Marty’s program is 45 minutes of non-stop fun with amazing magic, comedy and lots of audience participation. There’s magic with an appearing shovel, coal that turns into diamonds, a magic ant farm, a silly rabbit puppet who lives in his nest underground and a whole lot more! And, don’t blink your eyes, or you’ll miss the surprise appearance of our live bunny rabbit!

Do you "dig" nature? Come along on a musical journey digging into the deep roots that nature has to offer you. Discover how you can unplug from electronics and connect to wild things right in your own backyard. Learn how to call in a barred owl, or sniff out a spider. Wild critters are closer than you think! Families will "dig" Wildheart's original music and groovy actions while they bring the heart of the wild to the heart of the child.
